messages from sam

Samantha's younger brother, Garret, is being shipped off to serve in Iraq tomorrow. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts.

In other news on the Phil/Sam front, Phil's band may soon be no more. There's not conflict or anything, just the normal changing lives, business, etc. They have 2 more shows coming up. If you want to see them live, these may be you last chances.

The first on Friday, July 22nd at The Creepy Crawl downtown. It's an all ages show. The next one is August 5th at Just Bills in North County. That's and 18+ show. Sam assures me these shows should be "phenomenal" considering they are some of the last. Try to make one or both if you can! I'm gonna.

Jeff's Wedding Invitation?? Oh my!!!!

Well....recently there has apparently been some controversy over the fact that Dave Young (Dad) was not mentioned on my wedding invitation. I know some of the "aunts" and a few others are confused or perhaps think that the reason he is not on it is because of some issues between us, etc...whatever...

First of all let me assure all the aunts that I love my dad and always have. Also let me point out that proper wedding etiquette actually dictates that the parents of the groom don't appear on the invitations to begin with. (Mom (patti) is on it because of her financial and organizational contributions to the wedding)

Now let me get to my main point!!!

If any of you out there have concerns over this or feel that its rooted in some relational problem between my dad and myself...........then you are really the ones with the problem. I will explain.

If there was indeed a problem between my Dad and myself I certainly would not be so petty as to let it boil down to a name printed on a piece of cardboard that gets sent out in the mail.

If that is how "some" of you define your relationships and how you express your care for others, that is certainly your business........but I have a little bit more depth than that. So does Sharon who also cares for and likes my dad.

I just had lunch with my dad this afternoon and we talked and had a great time. So while "some" of you ponder and wonder how the relationship between us is working, based on a silly invitation and gossip......the rest of us in the real world are happily going about our lives.

Just wanted to clear up this (quite frankly) ridiculous issue! See you all soon at the wedding! Looking forward to it!!

steph's book club

I read this book over a year ago, but a friend of mine just reminded me of it yesterday. It's called "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime." It's about a young teenage boy who's autistic, and a mystery of his neighbor's murdered dog. It's a really neat perspective. Easy to read, fun, touching, interesting and eye-opening. Here's one of the reviews for it, in case you want to learn more about it. It's one of those books I'd recommend to pretty much anyone. Even younger folks (It won a children's book award, but it's got some more mature issues in it, so maybe for teens...)

Are there any books out there that you would recommend to everyone?
