what do you recommend?
Inspired by McSweeney's recommendations, I made a little "Steph recommends" list. I'd really like to hear what everyone else recommends. It's random. Just, you know, what are you into lately that other people might enjoy?
Here's my list:
-Chili Man Chili Seasoning.
It's quite yummy. We still add some of our own spices, but this is quite good flavoring on it's own. And it comes in extra hot, too.
-Taking Vitamins.
It's really hard to eat the recommended servings of veggies and fruit everyday. So I take a multi-vitamin, and extra vitamin C during the cold & flu season. I don't get sick too often. So it must be working :)
-Carpooling.
If you can figure it out, what a great way to save money on gas! And I suppose it's a little better for the environment, too!
-Citizen Cope.
His album "The Clarence Greenwater Recordings" is really good! Kinda funky, soul-y, rock-y, mellow. I listened to nothing else for a full month. My boss discovered him through a Pontiac commercial.
-Pilates.
It has done good for my abs and flexibility. Kind of relaxing but strenuous at the same time. These excercises really help you to focus on your core muscles, balance and your overall body and the way it works. I found that it actually helped me with my regular workouts, helping me to focus on proper movements and form.
- Oldman's Guide to Wine.
A great wine book. Informative, fun and non-pretentious. Lots of good tips and ideas.
-Writing Letters.
It's good to write...good for the soul. And it will brighten someone's day to get mail other than bills or ads.
-Garden State Soundtrack.
Nice blend of music. Very mellow and melodical (is that a word?). Soundtracks are a great way to discover new artists. I'm listening to it right now, in fact. I especially like the song "Blue Eyes" for some reason ;)
-Newman's Own Peach Salsa.
Sweet and spicy. yum yum yum!
-This gel glass cleaner.
It's Spearmint scented! I've been using it to clean all the surfaces in our kitchen. It smells so good, I just keep cleaning stuff! It's like brushing my kitchen's teeth. I got it from work, so I don't know how widely available it is. I'm gonna keep my eye out, because at this rate I'm gonna run out before long.
-Hot green tea.
It's hot tea season. And supposedly green tea is sooper-dooper good for you. And white and red tea are even better for you, if you can believe it! I like teas flavored with chai spices, and other spicier stuff like cloves, cinnamon and ginger, rather than fruity flavors. Although orange is tasty.
-Licking the bowl.
"Tis the season to get your bake on. Don't waste a drop!
Well?

I think a positive outlook on life also helps prevent illness.
I forgot about public transport. I wish that was an option for me, but alas, no metro link in soco.
it would be fun to make homemade wine.
Yeah, my hadwriting is mostly cursive with certain letters appearing in print because they're faster/easier that way :)
MMM, hot chocolate. With lots of marshmallows!
